    Which Implements?

I found an old 2 bottom plow for cheap which I will use initially to turn things over but not every year. Looking for a small 5 foot disc now. This tractor was my father-in-law's and I'll use it for a long time (sentimental value). I do have a sprayer and seeder for my atv, so good there...

    Honey bees

I don't wrap mine. I don't think it hurts, but I haven't and have been fine. I also used quilt boxes as an insulation and moisture absorber up top though. My screen bottom boards stay screen all winter too.

    SF-2056 - BILL GOT KILLED!!!

Can't thank you enough for taking time to do this Skip. I think mainly the only input some of them are getting are from a small number who aren't really looking out for the good of Iowa. Putting up fact seems to be working. Love it.

Skip’s Trapping School! Sign up now!!! :)

Congrats. Trapping for me was rough in this weather with snow. I found snares to be way easier in the snow and connected on quite a few. Nice work. Gazillion more to go.

    Brutal weather coming

I did alfalfa bales last few years and they mow them down. I had sorghum planted, but the seed heads were gone long ago. Something gobbled them up. Could have been a combo of deer and turkeys.

    Which Implements?

I think I have landed on getting a disc. My tractor came with a rotary cutter. I have a spreader and sprayer for my atv, so should be good on that for some time. Dirt work is what I'm looking at now and think a disc would work well on the smaller area I have (cleared timber, so roots and...

    Which Implements?

I'm in the market for some 3 point implements to use on food plots at my farm. I bought a 53 Ford Jubilee tractor (roughly 29hp), so want to keep things within that range. My question is this: Which implements should I look for? I have been seeing 2 bottom plows, Cultivators as well as Disc...

    1st buck new farm!

Congrats! Beautiful deer and that property looks cool. Lots of fun work ahead on that place but looks like you have the right deer around.

    Disappointing Iowa Gun opener

Big problem I see that is mind boggling is that the DNR, who are experts in wildlife, who undergo studies to know what herd numbers are, are the ones out talking to people, etc, have to take orders from politicians. These same politicians have lobbyists in their pockets (Farm Bureau, weapon's...

    2023 Deer Harvest Report numbers

Completely agree as I had a locker (Afton) that stopped taking whole deer. I took mine to Milo last year. I suspect they will see their numbers rise, despite the overall deer numbers declining. Fewer spots will take on more business. For a while.

    Disappointing Iowa Gun opener

Went on Saturday with my son. Never saw a deer. Heard a few shots but not until almost noon and that was it. Even driving home barely saw guys out, when in years past you would see the "orange army" in nearly every field and would see deer running everywhere. Just kind of strange.

We’re Asking for Prayers and Support

    Pheasant rebound…

I love seeing this. I think your approach is proving itself. I'm going to rid my farm of some nest predators and am working to provide nesting cover for turkeys. Love seeing pheasants/quail benefit from this too. Nice work Skip

No Doe shooting for ME…. U guys down?

Not so much EHD, but I'm not shooting any this year. We took 3 last year and the neighbors stacked up their share. Not a huge amount, but my numbers are down from what I had seen in the past. I am beyond the limitless tags/hush program mindset. I can and will still donate some deer from...
