I have four "hard" enclosed blinds, but only one lets in flies. Go figure. I have spied a place where I think they may be getting in that I can caulk, but haven't done so yet. It is a kinked door seal that leaves just enough daylight that a fly could get in there. We'll see if caulking that...
Ha, that pic reminds me of a time once, way back...I was out turkey hunting and fell asleep. It was a rainy day and not much was happening. I am not sure how long I had been snoozing but when I woke up I saw something right in front of me about 15-20 yards away. It looked just like your...
I have seen reports on FB that some are being found in SE Iowa. That is definitely early in my experience...but unless someone is pulling a fake, it seems to be beginning.
Totally agree. ^^ I have no doubt that, if legal, some would not hesitate to "fly" their property prior to a hunt so as to see where EXACTLY Mr. Big is hanging and then go "hunt" accordingly. These drones are flying high enough and/or quiet enough that they do not spook the deer AND the cams...
FWIW, I get the reservations on the ever advancing technology. FWIW, I have chosen not to use cell cams for this reason, I think they are a bridge too far personally. (Note - I do use them for security purposes and we do sometimes see deer on them, but their locations are not where we would...
Regarding being able to discern big bucks...I saw footage where they were zoomed way in on the heads of bedded bucks and you could literally see the raw pedicels. A close up view of a larger diameter pedicel would be a pretty reliable indicator to me.
I once walked a property with an ISU degreed forester that I felt like really knew his stuff and he said something that day that I abide by..."Do not prune in May or June...or April".
The primary concern is that dropping trees will scrape the bark off of adjacent trees and invite disease and...
And there are more going up all the time. I also know of some red light cameras too, where right turn on red is prohibited...and ticketed via cam.
As someone that owns a company with a couple/few dozen people driving all over eastern Iowa every day, I get these tickets via mail as the owner of...
Another vote here to get rid of them. Brushpiles are attractive to predators, also groundhogs. A resident groundhog can consume more of your foodplot than you would imagine.
Definitely agree that it is unlikely to be a regular trap...but while Iowa law requires deer stops, I have overheard people talking about their personal dislike with that requirement and that they build their own snares without them...FWIW.
Actually, the best eaters were ones that I didn't take any pictures of. Mangrove Snappers and Mackerals were the best eating fish...and they were EXCELLENT. (Snook, pictured, are good to eat, but tightly controlled on what you can keep. So none of those fish in the pics was taken to the...
I went to Florida, Key Largo, about 2 weeks ago now. I had a reel, get it, reel, nice time. I should have taken more pics, but the fishing was so good that I kept forgetting to. :) (Awesome cats Skip, wow!)
