How are the shot gunners doing?

I was going to come in and make some sarcastic post, rile up those better-than-everyone-else bow hunters, but the last page and a half of this thread turned out to be pretty darn good. Thanks for the DoubleTree example, it sure puts things in a better light.

    The biggest threat:

Sligh, I don't disagree that deer in Iowa probably aren't costing Iowa deer farmers a fortune, unless their population is very, very heavy. This isn't the case in my area, and that is probably why I rarely hear farmers complain about them (I play farmer in the spring and fall for a guy and my...

    The biggest threat:

I'm pretty sure if deer were eating your potential profits, you'd consider them rats as well. Yep, farmers had a few good years with high prices, but don't let all the new paint and pick-ups fool you. If you know anyone in the farming side of things, you'll know that this year is a really lean...

    Templeton Lawsuit

Templeton Rye widely publicized that they were moving their distillery out of Iowa a few years ago. Just another attempt at getting money. Also, if you are from the area or know anyone from the area, you know that it isn't the old, famous recipe that is their claim to fame.

    outlook - standing crops

Really? Is that an actual honest question? As of right now, in my area, we are 7-8 growing days behind last year. Some areas had a wet spring, which delayed planting. The cool summer hasn't done anything to help mature the crop at the usual rate. Also, maybe people in your area are growing...

    Is Rut REALLY on?

Saw a buck mount a doe yesterday (she then proceeded to walk away and cut him off when she noticed my truck) in kossuth county. I've seen one other buck and doe bedded down together as well.

    String twist?

I've been reading that the PSE lines, that aren't the "pro" bows, have a cheap string. Might have to look at getting it re-strung. Thanks for the input!

    String twist?

Hey everyone I shoot a PSE Brute X and I've been running into a lot of string twist lately, or so it seems. This started early this year while I was shooting and I couldn't get it corrected. Had a mishap (dry fire) that cause the string to come off the top cam and the peep sight that Scheels...

    A Buck From Every County?

I never saw the pictures that were supposed to be uploaded for Kossuth County... I know of a couple nice ones taken up there, but I don't have the photos of them either :thrwrck:

    Rut? No Rut?

I was driving around a local lake south of the Des Moines metro and saw quite a few deer. Most were feeding side by side but the last field I saw I did notice a smaller buck chasing a doe. I probably saw 4 or 5 bucks, one that was a decent size, and then another 10-15 doe. 4 of them are on...

Ha! I was confused when I started reading it, but then it hit me. Good work :) I'll do my best not to actually knock the deer down with my bow, but my arrow instead :)

Oh really? I'll shoot ya a PM Not exactly sure what I want to do, I know I'll get a harness, I'm positive on that. What are your guys' preference, ground blinds or tree stands? I have a vast amount of public around me and saw quite a few nice bucks tonight while I was driving around, don't...

    New here

So was goose hunting, duck hunting, and ice fishing! The things I still need are field tip arrows (I believe) for practicing, my target, and then stands, trail cams, new camo, harness (requirement from the better half, probably a good idea), oh, and acquiring permission to hunt some land :P
