Indian grass burn response

I wanted to thicken up this stand, it is native- not something I planted. Did the burn 4/22 and took this photo 9/24.

have you noticed big blue outcompete Indian grass or vice versa? I have a mixed stand in the early stages and I was wondering who might win out or if they play well together.

pharmer's might be different but I've noticed on my place that Indiangrass seems to dominate over the Big Blue and is even working it's way into my thick switchgrass stands.

I have heard a few things. A prairie specialist here at ISU told me a couple weeks ago that it can be a total toss up, that depending on the year, indian grass can outcompete big blue and visa versa.

And by the way that looks great Pharmer

Even neater that it is native.

I have to think it isn't going to be the same every year, after all it has been that way since the glaciers. There are spots that one is thicker than the other, I'll need to think about whether there is any pattern to which does better when and where.
I don't have the photos here but I have a couple spots that I hit with 1/2 strength round-up this spring. Some natives popped up, I have one that I need to ID. It looks like switch but is a very dark head and dark seeds.
Another spot that I sprayed had a few Canadian Wild Rye pop up, I'm not sure if there were there before or I had seeds in the cuff of my pants.

Awesome display of before and after photos.

That must have been a good slow burn.

I'm betting the wildlife is living in large on your farm...That would be some PIMPED OUT home for them.
