Another Last Minute Buck

Well I just have to say this was the longest hardest season I have ever had in my almost 30 years of hunting deer. I think I have had more bad luck this year than all my years of hunting combined but I won't bore you guys with it and will just show you a pic of the hardest earned buck I have killed to date. Not the biggest but one I will never forget. I killed him last night at the last minute of the season literally with only seconds left to hunt. I had shot at this buck the night before and only grazed him at 150 yards taking only a little hair off his side (rushed marginal shot). Last night I was ready to call it a season when I looked one last time out the right side window of my blind to see him come barreling out of the cedars in the pasture heading for the corn field. Once he jumped the fence and ran into the field 30 yards he made the mistake of stopping for a bite of corn just before making it behind a tree where I couldn't have taken a shot at him. At a 100 yards I settled the crosshairs on his shoulder and let the MK85 smoke and he only went 50 yards at a dead run. I was very happy to finally shoot a buck after only seeing one real shooter all of bowseason and nothing bigger than this buck all muzzleloader season. Still had plenty of tags besides this one that are unfilled but this one was nice to fill since this muzzleloader was basically picture perfect for once with the cold and snow we had. Had a bigger bucks in my areas but both had shed before showing up so they will be there next year to look forward to.
