What to plant?????

I have a half acre area, its beside a pond and has a drainage area in it. I am looking for something for clay soil, easy to establish, good for erosion, and something the wild life will like also.

Want to plant this spring.

Any ideas???

I would probably go with some alfalfa and clover cover cropped with oats if you didn't mind maintaining it this summer

Have you thought about putting in some cover? Maybe some bushes, make it good and thick the birds will use it and so will deer. Just a thought.

Considering its in a drainage area, I would plant a clover that is better adapted to wetter soils. Whiteclover and Birdsfoot Triefoil would be two good options. You could even mix in a cool season grass to go with it if you want.
