Food plot tractors !!!

Ok guys ! What do you all use ?? And what would you consider the " ultimate " food plot / habitat tractor ? Hp ? Hydro ? Gear? Lets do both trailerable and non . heres mine for the last. 11 yrs been an awsome machine for me doing everything i needed ! Its a 2000 jd 4300 hydro. 32hp. But with the purchase of my farm in iowa and more acreage to work with im considering a bigger model ! Thinkin 50 to 70 hp so i can still trailer it fairly easy !! So lets see them or tell me your thoughts !!

We have a 5510 mfwd at work that can do it all but is small enough to get in tight spots and turn sharp in smaller fields.

The 5320 is a bit underpowered for some purposes, the 6320 had too bulky a frame. The 5115 M rocks but way too much for a designated food plot tractor.

The 5510 has a great loader and is just enough in the hp department for decent sized implements and pulling power. Probably 1/2 ton towable with the right trailer setup.

For my lil tractor- I’ve got a 50hp 5000 series Deere. MFWD, cat II hutch, 1 hydraulic set in back & a loader. Very basic but that rascal has really done it all. Can do all that my bigger tractor can if I spend more time & obviously use smaller stuff. I’ll see if I can get a pic of that hard riden rig.

The red girl gets it all done and the green one is limited but fun to get out there. There are some days I regret the old iron but there are a lot of good days that outweigh the bad.

This is what I started with 18 years ago.Tiny lil shit. Think it was 19 HP. Thinking back amazing what I got done with it. That tractor is long gone.... kinda wish I had it back for my kids someday. Running a 4320 currently. 48 HP. Does most things and handles a 4 row planter with ease. Will likley add a larger tractor within a couple years, probably a 5000 series. I will keep the 4320 tho. Hydro so handy for bucket work and tight plots that I have a lot of.

I have a 60hp hydro and it's incredible. Small enough to move around acreage or trails but large enough to do whatever I NEED. hydro is where it's at.

you could look into the 4R series. For example a 4066R would have the ponies your looking for while still being small enough to trailer. Probably a touch larger than your 4300...you can even get it with a cab with a/c!!!!!!!!!!

This is my second Massey, I really like the size at 85 horse. I just recently tried the duals out, I kinda like them.

This is the tractor I use for most of my food plot work. It was my dad's tractor and the first tractor I ever drove as a kid. I bought it from him a few years back and spent WAY too much money restoring it.
I guess at this point it's a keeper , it reminds me of my dad when I fire it up.

Ya know I thought it would but I never used it so I took it off and put a tool rack on and use that all time, I carry a chain, basic tools and water in it.

The duals look bad ass! But i would never fit that into some of my plots without widening the trails !!!!!lol!

I would have never ordered a food plot tractor with duals, I bought it used and they came with it. After using them mowing on hills I like them. The only drawback I can tell is it takes more power to turn and of course the width of the thing. And they will hit the mower if I turn to tight. But it’s a good trade off if it’s safer, but....the other side, I believe it gives me overconfidence, I like to see how far I can push things...so maybe not a good idea?

Well.... I made the plunge in a new to me tractor !! I found a 2016 with only 102 hrs on it a 2706e massey fergusson . shuttle shift . 57hp.. I really wanted to stay under 80in wide to make it easy to trailer as i do lots of food plots each year for myself and customers !. Hope this one treats me as good as my jd. Did !!!! Seems to be really well built and very roomy in the cockpit !

The 2 MF's have been in the family since new, the 1135 was the first new tractor my dad bought in '73 I'll never forget the day Washington tractor delivered it. The 165 is a '68, it was my grandpa's and I bought the NH in '04. Yeah, we battle hydraulic & radiator leaks but I love running these older machines plus my dad loves seeing his grandsons putting them to work. That TC30 New Holland has done way more than I every expected from it.
