2019 Season

Congrats to everyone that was able to get it done this season. Figured I share my harvest.

Early November I did my first ever hang n hunt. Chose to sit on a big oak ridge in between two steep ditches. About 45 minutes before dark I gave the horns a rattle and this guy came crashing down the ridge. After holding full draw for 2 minutes he finally stepped out from behind a tree and i let him have it. He ran across the ridge, stopped and stood there until it got to dark to see. With all the oak leaves on the ground I could hear everything that moved, well that wasn’t the case. Long story short, he walked off and after backing out after losing blood 160 yards away, my good friend ended up finding him 300 yards from the initial shot. Quartering too liver/stomach shot. Coyotes got to him first but we managed to salvage what we could!

I had acouple great deer lined up for muzzleloader season. Sat over picked beans three nights, saw 25 deer each night but no bucks. Janruary fourth, my second to last day to deer hunt I changed my game. Woke up at 4am to make a run at a hunt in a transition from food to bedding. Packed my hang on and set up 3 feet off the ground over looking a timber. Had 18 deer walk by at 10 yards before this fella stepped out at 70 yards. Even though he wasn't exactly the deer I was after, I couldn't pass him up. He is a brute, by far the biggest bodied deer I have ever seen. Dragging and loading him up by myself was fun :) Another successful season in the books, memories made, much learned, onto the next! -JUNIOR
