Can’t help but think the standing corn is crushing me right now. Did a little scouting today after getting out of my stand. Just checking tracks in the snow and my timber corridor is getting very lightly used while there are highways going in and out of the corn fields. Very frustrating...
I heard the same exact eery sound a few years ago. Hit tight to front shoulder and smacked opposite shoulder quartering away. If was very loud crazy sound he made. Didn’t have blood at all. He ended up getting shot during shotgun season with a pussed up shoulder.
I don’t have food plots and there ag fields everywhere. I wish I had food plots but not possible right now. I have made the switch to more interior timber off of bedding or staging areas. Late afternoons they will linger around the staging areas waiting for more darkness before heading out...
I’m no expert but I think early on the little bucks are running around like teenagers trying to breed everything, while the bigs have their ladies nailed down in their area. Later on in the month the pickings get slimmer and it’s every man for themselves.
I agree. Mid/late November seems to be better on my ground for mature bucks. Seems like there is less movement overall, but the big guys are def making the rounds all day.
I’ve had the same worries. Last early November when we had that early snow the deer where piling out of standing corn early in the AM, going right passed my stand and going to bed elsewhere. It was a great day.
i hunt river bottom ground that was flooded in early fall. This ruined the beans for harvest and there are 100s of acres of mostly black, standing beans. Could this still be used as a food source or will the deer avoid these?
Thanks for the reply. I know it’s probably a silly question by just want to stay safe, If I push it through....just using the rod the same direction as if I were loading it and push the charge and sabot through?
Im new to muzzle loading and trying to teach myself. I purchased an CVA Optima V2. I fired the primer and the charge did not fire. My question is how to clear the barrel? This is an in-line.
I bought a summit viper a few years back and have gotten pretty handy with it. That said, I wish I had gotten a stand with sticks. Like mentioned, finding the right sized tree that is also straight can be a real pain in the ass.
