I run cameras over 4-5 different herds of deer and I'd say antlers size is down than in previous years and down without a doubt in drought areas. In said drought areas my only focus is shooting a couple that don't have the genetics to be Big big as to let larger antlered ones bounce back.
So many good ideas here. I'll just give my .02 on the biggest.
Enough late season grain to get them through to early spring browse growing. Totally worth it and comforting to know what your doing for your local deer. It's so much easier and nicer to work a deal out with your farmer (if you...
I was listening to a podcast not long ago where a biologist was being interviewed. It was very interesting. One thing he talked about was the range of coyotes. It was insane how large it really was. They did quite the long term study on them. Concluded that you could hunt/trap them for sport but...
Looks like a mortal wound based off the blood. I don't think you need advise, as I think you're doing what I too would do. Comb the other side for blood and I'll cross my fingers for you that the river didn't take her away.
I totally get what you're saying. It can be pretty frustrating to myself as well. As a guy that keeps his eye out also, there is no doubt a demand for those whitetail paradise properties. Otherwise, no one would ever buy them, right? IMHO...The market is what really determines price. I think...
Just a thought for numbskills like yours truly... Video tutorials on how to use and navigate the site. Everything posting related, navigation, amenities, etc. Obviously too large to upload to site but how-tos via a youtube link.
Im a little late to the party but 20mph dont bother me a bit. It has to be bumping 30 before im even concerned. Couple of the best hunts Ive had were zero wind days and another over 30 all day. This time of year, if you can get out there, have at it! Good luck!
The only "unwritten" rules I know of on public is to show basic respect. You sound like a considerate guy just by what youre asking. Ive hunted public plenty of times and still would to this day if it came down to it. Keep an open mind, remember that its "open" to the public, and keep an eye...
Typically Farm Credit Services of America finance at 65% of appraised value rather than purchase price. That can be a good thing if you get a stellar deal. Outside of that local banks generally like to see 20-25% down based on purchased price. Find a banker you like and can trust and go from...
Everyone has a justifiable opinion on this and I get it. IMHO my cameras really light up Nov 7-11th and Nov 19-23. Davis county is a great county. Best of luck!!
I can say I just force myself through it. Last year a sat 5 days straight dawn to dark. There is no doubt its ROUGH. However, the way I see it, every minute longer I sit there is every minute closer to seeing a deer. Couple years ago I shot a 180 on November 9th at 1:45pm. It was in the upper...
