    Mount Back

What a buck. Looks like a good taxidermy job as well. Congrats to your family!

    Self filming

Looking to start doing some self filming this turkey season and upcoming deer season. Wondering if any fellow Iowa Whitetailers do it and succeed. I have a smaller Sony Handycam I will be using, and will upgrade if I can get the hang of it. It has a pretty solid zoom, and decent clarity...

    Taxidermy opinions

I really do appreciate all the input from you guys! As a young man, I still need to figure out all the ins and outs and you guys just make that easy for me, and I cant thank you enough! I am going for a "buck puffed up coming into the rattle". This was a pre rut buck and he came into the...

    Taxidermy opinions

Around 6 foot in a 10 foot ceiling. I think I will be happy with it either way, because it was my first big one taken with a bow. BUT, I always over think things with my hunting :D

    Taxidermy opinions

I appreciate all the responses! Deer Nut that is a cool deer, and a great pose for his character. I did not realize semi sneak was still a higher standing head. I cannot wait to get my deer back! Thanks again everyone

    Taxidermy opinions

This is the deer I harvested this bow season. This will be the first deer I have ever mounted. The deers right side tines are curved in a little bit, and I think that is super cool so I was thinking a left turn. Also I think he will look good with a full upright pose or a semi upright. Just...

Does anyone else cringe during this??

In my personal opinion from a straight management point of view, antlerless is an unneeded season. I am a bow hunter, just like most people on these forums. We all want that chance at the 180+ inch deer in bow range. That is obvious. Antlerless season is not the only poor management aspect...

    Bowtech Carbon knight

Hit the nail right on the head. I shot it with just a rest and felt some hand shock, but nothing bad. It shot hard as well. I personally liked the Bowtech Experience better, but the Carbon Knight is a good bow.

    EHD deer.

I apologize for the poor image quality. My buddy didn't take the best picture! I found this skull in the bottom of a creek in southern Iowa during a push 1st season. Because the deer died in a creek bottom, I assume it was EHD. I think that is a fair assumption. Would have been a heck of a...

    Have you ever....

That is funny! Almost every time I am in the stand before dark, I spend to much time looking at bushes and shrubs before I realize they are not deer! Happens to the best of us.

    225 nontypical yesterday

Wow! What a brute. I hunt in Warren County but have not seen this deer or heard about it. Congrats to whoever killed that stud!

    Brother got it done!

I am posting this for my brother. He shot this nice whitetail on Nov. 7th at 3:30. Gave this buck a snort wheeze and he came running! Put a rage in the cage at 20 yards. Shot was a little high, but the deer ran about 100 yards and expired. My brother and I are both tagged out for this bow...

    Jumping The String????

Crazy how much they can drop, and how fast they can do it! Good luck for the rest of the season.

    Warren County buck down!

October 29th was the night for me! Was sitting over a CRP field, and noticed a buck moving out of the creek bottom 100 yards to my left. I grunted at him, he looked up then continued walking. I decided to let him do his thing. At about 5:50 P.M. i rattled. Nothing came in right away so I was...

    Old Buck or Doe?

BIG bodied deer. Definitely old. My buddy shot a buck like that 10 years ago in the rathbun area. Bad genes for sure, a good deer to take out of the herd.

    Shelled or cracked corn?

I have always used cracked corn in the summer to get pictures of deer. I've never used shelled and wondered if anyone has good results with it? Also I found out it was way cheaper to go to a co-op and buy bulk instead of the 50 pound bags. Shelled or cracked?

First deer with a stick and string!

I tagged her after the uphill drag. Thank you for the advice.

First deer with a stick and string!

Doe down! I find it very tough to find time to hunt with school and sports. I found a day to get to the stand after school one day. As i was walking to my stand, i heard some movement in the brush and a deer obviously snorting at me and stomping. Right there and then i thought the hunt was...
