Got my buck back, and my taxidermist absolutely killed it on this one!

    What pose for this buck?

I’ve been considering something like the Revolution Relaxed Sweep, but modifying a Mears Semi-Sneak for that pose. https://www.mckenzietaxidermy.com/mobile/Semi-Sneak-Relaxed-Sweep-Strong-Offset-C6629.aspx

    What pose for this buck?

This isn’t an Iowa buck, but just looking for input. I caught up with this buck right before Christmas, and because of his uniqueness with the mass, extra beam, and cape coloration, I decided to shoulder mount him. Trying to decide what pose I want to use that will do him justice and show off...

A surprise from my Iowa buck this season!

I really looked at that and made a mental note, when I first figured out what it was. It looks like a very level shot angle, maybe from the ground or a ground blind, with a very very slight quartering away shot. You can see the protruding knot in the pic below.

2017 Aerials released- link below- Iowa state

Here is the viewer for the Iowa site, it makes looking at the map much easier and quicker (it can easily be used on your phone also). It doesn’t have the 2017 layer loaded yet, but I’m sure it won’t be long. http://ortho.gis.iastate.edu/leaflet.html

A surprise from my Iowa buck this season!

It’s two separate ribs, and it has calcification between the two, around the head, fusing them together.

A surprise from my Iowa buck this season!

My thoughts exactly, the other shooter was good L to R, but I guess he misjudged distance and hit real low. I agree, not the greatest showing for the STOS.

A surprise from my Iowa buck this season!

Nothing odd at all, he was actually very symmetrical, and healthy. Field dressed 201 lbs.

A surprise from my Iowa buck this season!

While cleaning the buck I killed back earlier this season, he had a big knot on his left side slightly behind the shoulder. It turned out to be a broadhead from being shot in a past season. It had passed completely through, and was lodged on the exit side just under the skin. I sent it to a...

Thanks everyone! I do have to give credit to bowhunt44, he gave me some pointers from his Iowa experiences, and got me pointed in the right direction. I think that helped a lot in sealing the deal.

I agree, they have to be some of the toughest animals on the planet. Even with a great double lung shot, this buck went on a 150 yd death run.
