    Buck down Oct. 8

Got out for the first time this weekend down in southern Iowa. Hung a new stand Saturday morning over a clover field and was back in the stand (after the rain) by 3:00 p.m. Saw a few does but it was windy and no bucks to be seen. By 6;30, the wind had died down and it was a perfect evening. Just...

    Golden Sun Feeds items

My father-in-law was elevator manager in Ringsted for years. We fed our golden retriever Golden Sun Hi-Pro and had orange dog bowls, feed scoop, and all kinds of sweat shirts, mugs, knives, caps, etc. Don't think I have any of it left.

    First ever late afternoon bird

Filled my 4th season tag just after 6:00 pm last Friday. Had lots of gobbling on my morning setups but birds seemed to always move off in the wrong direction. Finally did a three-hour sit in a blind in a field near a suspected roosting area and had four two-year-old birds come in to decoy set.

    Dove Hunting

Tried it myself for the first time this weekend. In the morning, I was 3-24 with my 12 gauge 870. Switched to the 16 gauge Ithaca 37 in the afternoon and went 5-23. The old Featherlight helped me get on em quicker. We cooked 'em up just like yours and I've got to say, it's the best wild game...

    Kansas Bird

Had a tough few days hunting in the Flint Hills -- cold, snow, rain and lots of wind. Saw birds but tough to get close enough and they weren't responding to calls, probably because they couldn't hear them over the wind. After no luck Thursday or Friday, two of our group connected Saturday...

    Six, And Then Some

Awesome bird! First bird I shot had three beards and I've never gotten another one with multiples. Anxious to get out with Iowa bow tag, 4th season tag and two for Kansas!

    Constitutional Rights TRAITORS

Blake, What is the source of your information on this? Most things I've read say that it would in no way affect our domestic Second Amendment rights. It's basically designed to limit international gun trade by rogue gun dealers who sell to terrorist groups. In fact in the recent United...

    Kansas trip

Great job. Hope to put one (or two) Kansas birds down with a bow myself the first week of May.

    Strutters!

On the way to northwest Iowa on Easter morning, saw two groups of birds with several toms strutting. One group of about eight birds had four toms puffed up just off Highway 20 not far from Coalville exit by Fort Dodge. Then saw about a dozen birds with three strutting toms near the egg farm on...

    Can Obama really do this?

Grand Slam? When even FOX calls it a pack of lies, you know it must be bad. http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/08/30/paul-ryans-speech-in-three-words/

Amazing job. You'd never guess you'd be able to pull that off looking at what you started with.

    Smart Phone! Who has one?

iPhone here ... use it quite a bit. Mostly Cabela's Recon Hunt -- GPS and way-point mapping are great. Also use it to check the weather, particularly spring thunderstorms when turkey hunting. Next purchase is a solar charger so I can recharge on the fly. May also get a battery pack/charger to...

    AZ Elk Hunt Journal 2012

Fun story and we haven't even gotten to the "hunting" part yet. Good luck and I'll be watching to see how things progress.

    1st. bow tag filled

Nice bird! I hear you about shooting fingers. I finally bought a different bow this spring but had shot an early '80's vintage Darton (or my recurve) until now. I've finally gotten used to the release but fingers seem more natural.
