    Looking for some guidance...

From my experience I would find the thick knarly public areas, where neighboring groups will push deer into you. There is a lot of running and gunning that goes on in that area

Any harm in feeding old seed corn or beans.....we have a ton of stuff that is a few years old I was considering putting out and hanging some cameras over ?

    Question.

It is and it isnt, if you look a little a deeper than whats written in the black white game laws. Just because they say you can shoot female deer, does that in fact make it the right thing to do. If the population is way down is it ok to make it worse just because someone is a begginer...

    Question.

So would it be ok to just shoot one hen pheasant ? if you shoot a doe that equals minus three more deer for next year. Hunters are the only tool the state has to manage the heard, but ultimately we make the decision if there is enough deer or not. Even shooting one doe backs us up as far as...

    Question.

I would still encourage everyone to shoot a small buck before they shot a doe if the numbers are way down......even beginners and kids should understand they are only hurting themselves in the future if they continue to shoot females. Thats why no one gets to shoot hen pheasants.

    Shotgunners - THINK FIRST

If you are going to shoot does and really think its ok to do so...I know where some hen pheasants are that you can shoot as well.

That has crossed my mind!!! The sad part how much did these guys pay to hunt with this clown, then I become the bad guy for screwing up their hunt

People (Outfitters) Setting up to shoot on your side of the fence.

Correct I am the landowner on most of it, but they are also doing it on a piece of ground we lease. I was thinking of putting up some 10ft high no hunting signs (on our side of the fence) right in front of all their stands that are on our fence lines. They would know and i believe they do...

People (Outfitters) Setting up to shoot on your side of the fence.

Just wanting some opinions, we have a number tree stands including a outfitters equipment who has setup to hunt right on our fence lines with "their" shooting lanes setup to shoot on to our property. What would you do or how would you handle it ?

    Loess hills

My experience is to work the funnel points, and play the wind while remembering that while it is important to not get busted while in the stand it is doubly so to not get busted on your way in and out of your stand.

need hunting ground in SW IA

If you knew of half of the storys of the crap we put up with every year it would floor most everyone on this site. The good news is the DNR is getting better and better at catching the rat bastards. Hopefully after some locals getting caught last year pretty much red handed and...

need hunting ground in SW IA

Southwest Iowa is heavily hunted and the numbers are way down from what they were four our five years ago. There are still good spots but in the end you will have to big $$$ to get on the good spots. Also forgot to add SW Iowa is the poaching capitol of the world so you will have to put up...

Score One For The Good Guys

Ok, I wont go into to many details but they caught one of the many poachers in our area. I wanted to publicly say thank you to the DNR for the help and for catching the individual. I know I bash the DNR when I don't agree with their policies or actions so I owe them a atta boy / girl when...

Bow Hunt Zone 4 as a Non Resident 3 years in arow

The only thing I can think of ......as a non resident land owner could he be getting a landowner doe tag for the archery season ? I know the neighborhood...you can normally kill a a doe in about thirty minutes worth of hunting out of any stand in that area...its almost impossible to setup...

Bow Hunt Zone 4 as a Non Resident 3 years in arow

One of our neighboring land owners from out of state has bow hunted zone 4 , three years in a row. Anyone else have that kind of luck getting a non resident tag. When I spoke to our DNR officer about it they said maybe they are only hunting does and I never heard another word....makes you...

    Poachers Fined

Poaching is rampant in southwest iowa...it happens all the time. We find numerous dear ever year with the heads cut off. The worst is when they shot them and just leave them lay, I am glad they finally caught at least some of the skum bags.
