    Standing Corn

50/50 Beans and Corn, rotate every year. Run a short season bean such as a 2.5 or 2.9 variety and over seed it with turnips and rye when the leaves start to yellow. By running the shorter season bean it allows for the sun light to penetrate in and give the turnips a chance. As for dealing...

    Disc VS Tiller

I put plots in for a living, the only time I get the tiller out is if I am breaking into a crp field. Even then I think its faster to get the grass killed, burned out of it, and disc it with a drag behind the disc. Tillers take to much time and make a seedbed that is so fine that a good rain...

CRP type programs with Short Crop History?!?!

You dont have to enlist all of the ten acres. You wont get paid for it but it allows you to keep out what you want for food plots. The HEL program does not allow food plots either. I kept 5 acres out for the purpose of plots.

what kind of 3 point tiller?

I run a Landpride 1558rtr It does a great job. i'm on the otherside of the fence on the slip clutch though. A shear pin will definetly shear and protect your gear drive. And a shear pin is less than a buck to replace. A s;ip clutch can be costly to replace and if it does not slip when it should...

what have you learned over the years.

Enjoy what your doing. Don't hold yourself to standards that take the fun out of it. And share it with friends and family. Also I think one of the biggest things that one can do is to learn to hold your composer. At least until after the shot, than let it go.

    3 point disc?????

10-4 portability is a main concern. By the time I get the tractor, tiller, planter, fertilizer and spreader on the trailer starts filling up real quick.

    3 point disc?????

Skip, What did you have and why did you sell it? I would like to have a bigger one for the big tractor but its kind of hard to travel 5 different counties with something that dont fit on a trailer.
