I am telling you that if you sweet talk them enough you don't even have to pay the $500... You lease land from a landowner that does not hunt and tell him that you want to be declared the farm manager so you can get the tenant tag.... And bam... You can kill 3 bucks...
Then do something about it chipterp. Not that hard to speak up consistently to the right people. It does directly effect me btw...
Daver... So if I lease a property for hunting I am entitled to a landowner tenant tag? Because that is all that is being done here.
It has been quite some time since I have been on this site but I figured you guys would like to know that there is apparently a loophole in the Iowa Landowner/Tenant tag situation...
There is a certain gentleman that is an Iowa resident, does not own land, does not farm, does not "actually"...
I completely understand where you are coming from. I live in a county that usually sells out of tags in Nov so I believe that I saved some deer. I feel that doing something more proactive is better than sitting here waiting for something to change. We have a lot of uninformed hunters that do...
I agree that our Biologists need to be the ones that make these decisions. But everyone on here knows how inefficient the government is when it tries to control everything. We as hunters need to do more to protect what we have and stop hoping our government will make the right decisions. By...
I have about 5 acres of established clover plots that I have planted the last 2 falls. Can I no-till drill the rye/oat/pea/radish mix into the clover stand with any success? All of my other plots are in soybeans and will be in turnips so I don't have "room" for this mix without tilling in some...
I understand where you are coming from Bonker but the increase in widespread qdm has much more to do with the caliber of todays bucks than does mineral. I worked with a wildlife biologist last year on how to improve my farms and he flat out told me there is no hard sceintific data that shows a...
Long reply
I am only asking because I am pretty sure that I got worked over pretty bad by the Tipton Locker on how much meat I got back. So here is a little venting!
I am avid about an aggressive doe harvest on my farms because they are in definate need of it. This year we shot 89 does off...
For all of you guys that cut up your own deer or have any knowledge of this I am just a little curious on what to expect the trim weight to be.... So if you were to cut up a doe that weighed 147# after being feild dressed what do you think the trim weight on the meat would be, how much meat...
Here is a deer that I believe I saw last year. Last year he was a 4x5 that I thought was 3.5 years old. He had no mass and long tines. It looks like he grew a g-4 on the right side and became a main frame 1 this year. Thinking about shooting him but not sure if he should be on the hit list...
A week and a half-two weeks ago I guess there were a couple of kids killed at an interesection blinded by corn while they were on a go cart. They were hit by a pick-up up in the Sumner Fredericksburg area. Some dangerous stuff!
Here is a nice clean typical 6x6 that my friend got a pic of about a half mile away from my farm. We are both pumped for the fall!!
The buck in the background looks pretty nice also.

Just wondering if any of you guys have used sugar beets in your food plots? Looking for any info I can get..... Where to buy good quality seed? Planting dates? Best method of planting, broadcast or drill? Seeding rate? Thanks for any help you guys can give...
