    CRP Mid Contract Change

I read somewhere once(not sure where) that they will allow a change if they deem it an "upgrade". The way I understood it, you could potentially upgrade a cool seasons stand by converting it into a NWSG, tree planting, or pollinator.

    CRP Mid Contract Change

Does the NRCS ever allow mid contract changes to CRP contracts? For instance, if someone has a field of cool seasons grasses in contract, could it be converted to a warm seasons blend or maybe even a tree planting contract? Figured it wouldn't hurt to check here on IW prior calling an office...

    Multiflora rose/oriental bittersweet removal?

Would Crossbow kill off small locust trees too? I have a bunch of 1-5 ft tall locusts growing in a grassy area.

Hypothetical: if money was no object

Utilize the soil digging your 20 acre lake and build berms for access. Maybe 5 or 6' tall with switch planted on them. In some cases, build 2 berms side by side, walking between them like a tunnel.

    Supplemental feeding potential?

Most of us can agree that supplemental feeding in the off season DOES help. The problem is, most of us cant afford to do it. Anilogics is $50 for a 50 lb bag and the other brands aren't too far behind. 50 lbs would last about 1 night in many areas. Has anyone found a more practical way?

    Your preference for switchgrass seed’

From what I've read, RC Tecumseh is the best drought tolerant blend. It might be a better option depending on your soils.

    Growth this year

One of the B&C scorers in the state also swears that drought years produce bigger deer and claims he has the data to prove it. Some say that on drought years, roots have to reach deeper and pull up more nutrients out of the soil which transfer to the deer when eaten.

    A little bit of EHD??

The drought theory never made much sense to me. Rain makes more mud than the drying creeks and ponds do. The midges are likely more concentrated on dryer years, but IMO drought or not, the disease carrying pests are around and doing their thing. Thank a cow.

    Brassicas

What's everyone thinking with the current conditions and weather forecast? We have some moisture in the ground and slight chance of rain Sunday, but have a big heat wave coming next week. We've had a relatively cool summer so I'm guessing were going to pay for it in August. If the heat does...

    What has hunting become???

The only competition is between me and the best deer I can find. I don't post pics to social media or even show many friends. Its not that I'm not proud of my harvests, but I don't need anyone elses validation or approval. I don't hunt for likes, I hunt for me.

    Mitch Rompola buck

I've questioned the legitimacy of every deer harvest photo I've seen with him in it. Something just doesn't look right in every photo whether it be the deers head, forehead, ears, rack, color, etc. He was a taxidermist and I believe he fabricated the rack on every buck he "killed".

How much are land consulting costs?

If any of you killers are interested in coming to my farm and tossing me a different perspective and ideas I maybe haven't thought of yet, I'd gladly do the same in return. For free. Hunters helping Hunters.
