JDubs...I'm with you, maybe Elkhunter is retracting his statement, along with the swipe at the DNR Director (who they just had amicable meeting with)and the Governor of the great state of Iowa
Hey everyone did you know:
These bills establish a deer licensing system that discriminates between Non-Resident (NR) landowners and NR deer hunters that do not own land. Preference is given to NR landowners at the expense of others, placing unfair advantage in the hands of one group vying for a...
CC...I don't understand the thought process that you can improve access for Iowa hunters by not allowing NRLO's access to their own land?
That hasn't proven to be a succesfaul game plan the last 10 years and quite honestly won't be a great game plan for the furture if that is all you have to...
the state nursery has been a great help, we have been using their trees & shrubs in our CRP quail habitat buffers, for our snow fences and IN TSI work...some effort needed to help maintain but high % have rooted and look fantastic.
yup that's logical ...cause I'm a NR I should make my land public, do you want to borrow my car to?
I'd be more than willing to allow trusted res hunters access in exchange for helping to maintain my piece of the kingdom as long as the state allowed me to hunt as much as I wanted with my new...
mkat...you're concerned over 6000 tags???DNR increased res tags by over 140,000 the past several years. I guess all those boys just bought the tags to suport the system and didn't really have a place to hunt right?
DW...I have 500 acres 1 hr away from DM...you help me with fixing her up & get the DNR/State to allow me to hunt it regularly and because we're buds I'd let you hunt it. Easy as that.
NWB...them refuges you mentioned quite a few are state mandated, maybe if the state loosened up the law...some private landowners would be more cooperative in allowing folks in for hunting. Never know till you try.
Hillrunner you took the word right out of my mouth. Maybe every one ought to listen to the President and put more civility back into our lives and relationships. Res and Nonres can live together peacefully right. I know a ton of both and they all share the same simple interest and enjoyment.
now lets see how this is going to work. choose one what is going to happen??..a.)Cousin Moe absolutely never lets anyone hunt his land, its his and no body better trespass on it.
b.) Cousin Moe lets his neighbors Curly and Larry hunt for free because Cousin Moe is a good guy and deer are a...
hmmmm I wonder where the DNR would get that $2.2 million...didn't I read another thread on here somewhere where Dearden said the DNR wants to increase NR tags 6,000...that $2.2 Million is about what the DNR leaves on the table every year turning down NR's..
makes sense to me take the $$ and...
bloodhound...NR's get 6,000 tags, last I saw Iowa res bought what 300,000 or more...no way in the world can NR's have an impact on what is harvested. I've seen pickups w/IA plates and tractors with buckets full of deer. You may not be filling your 3 but Joe Schmuck down the road just did.
JJ ...them filthy rich people out there aren't all NR's, no matter how much you'd like to believe that. And if Uncle Joe decides to sell his farm and Joe Blow will give him more $$ than the next guy, he won't care who he is getting it from. Supply and demand...last I saw 99.5% of Iowa farmland...
and who is responsible for the deer numbers and quality being torn apart? Lets see.... you certainly aren't blaming the NR's they only get a few thousand licenses every year.... hmmm maybe the DNR they are Big Brother, might as well blame them for making the rules to play by and gee they only...
I've got permission to hunt on a chunck of timber (160 acres) along the skunk river in east Lee County, Iowa.
It's on the south side of the river.
Basically it's a large chunk of timber with some narrow funnels on both sides of it along the river.
There is a dike and then farmground to...
Re: Nonresident Landowners, check out this website
If NR's only own 4% of the hunting ground according to THA4's personal sources, what's all the hassle about? Call it a day and enjoy life.Plenty of ground for everyone to hunt happily!
