I did everything right BUT....

Well, IW friends. I did everything right the other day but the shot. Had a nice buck come in at 10:45 and the doe bedded down. I stayed there until another buck came and got them up at 2:00.
The doe brought him right in and he gave me a shot at 22 yards. I just plain & simple did not put a killing shot on him. So, I let him lay where I watched him for the next 3 hours. He was 80 yards away and was between me and the truck. I sat from 6:30 a.m. until 5:30 that night. A LONG day to say the least. I snuck out the long way around and came back in the morning. My brother was with me and we thought we did the right thing, which we did. We did a nice tracking job on him and he went another 100 yards overnight. My brother saw him laying up ahead about 40 yards from us. I snuck up on him and put in another arrow to put him out of his misery. It all worked out in the end even though it wasn't text book. Big thanks goes out to my big bro.

God job. Nice buck. Now you know what a gutshot deer does while it lies there succumbing to its wound. Not much. May as well be back at the ranch, eh?

??? whatever, waiting to move in on a marginal shot is the difference between finding your deer or pushing it to the next county, good job.
