Jake gobbles

Can you guys tell the difference in your area between a tom and jake gobble? I called in two different groups of Jake's today for a total of 11 Jake's. Most of them had the abrubt, off sounding gobble, but a couple gobbled like long beards. I did notice one or two that had maybe 4" beards. Early hatchers maybe?

It's not 100%, but yeah, that short, broken gobble definitely gives the jakes away. I agree too that some jakes have a very normal sounding gobble. I've noticed that jakes often are silent when there's a tom or two gobbling nearby.
