Mississippi River Bass

Last saturday me and my dad decided since we weren't turkey hunting this weekend we might
as well go try and catch some fish. So we headed north to fish the Mississippi to try and get
into some pre-spawn largemouths and smallies. Fishing was a little slow but we still managed
to catch 12 fish all around the two pound range, but I did catch one pretty decent largemouth.

JNRBRONC, most of the fish we caught were on spinnerbaits, just slow rolling them across the bottom.

My favorite bait for the prespawn-spawn smallies and largemouth is a yum! salty lizard. Usually pumpkin colored works the best. Fish it with a split shot. Throw it on the bed and just twitch it. If you can see the female on the bed its awesome because once you make her mad enough she just lifts it up off the bed with her mouth and you gotta set the hook right then. I love sight fishing for them. I have just as good of luck when I cant see them though.
