NBC is making us look bad

After discussing this with some one at a local pro shops tonight, I did a little research on the subject and found this rather disgusting. They are talking about backyard Olympic sports that kids can do at home. The guy who was demonstrating is shooting a left handed bow right handed, totally making archers look like retards. The equiptment they were using is replicas of ancient archery. Please read this from the NBC website under the today show from today:

Children's Archery Set
With over 50,000 registered archers in this country, and many more who are attracted to the ancient sport, it's nice to know there are fun, safe ways to learn. One key item: a bow that's right for younger kids — they can pull back smoothly on the string — and which is easily packable for long trips. This fiberglass bow, from a company called By The Sword, is part of a series of bows that are built for kids as young as 7. The fiberglass shaft is wrapped, so there is no risk of splintering, as with some cheaper bows, and the top and bottom shafts come out of the center handle for easy packing. Comes with three arrows; all tip styles are available, including blunted rubber. $60 www.by-the-sword.com.

First of all the website selling the bow kit sells it for $99.00. Second that is not Olympic style archery, third there are 190,000 kids alone in the state of Kentucky that particiate in archery alone. What do you consider a registered archer? Drop them a Email and let them know what Jackasses they are.

Just like Olympic athletes children need to be shown how to shoot the right way.if not more so with archery, simply because the damage an arrow compared to say a pulled hamstring or a stubbed toe can do,needless to say there would be no comparison.
Sure you can do it in your backyard just like throwing a baseball, running sprints or even flips, but you need one h**l of alot more precautions you need to take to prevent injuries that are not just dibilatating but even deadly.Ask some of these athletes around the world and I would love to hear what there explination of a 10 ring or x'ed out would be.It would probably be comical if not totally ludicrous. That guy you described Supertec obviously doesn't even know his right hand from his left hand,he probably is right foot dominant and kicks with his left. Not to far fetched but "right hand, left handed bow"DAH!!!!!!!
Too bad we couldn't get the folks that did this little,by little I mean lack of brain power, piece to Iowa and show them a an actual "left handed bow" complete with arrows and ask them to put it in the ten ring.
