Old 8

I don't know how old he actually is but he was the oldest around and there were no other names. He's been around since I bought this place, 6.5 I think. Hes got a messed up nose which was easy to identify him. No change to his rack over the years, maybe a little smaller, it was time for him to go. I say that like I could easy track him down which wasn't the case, always off the beaten path. Every year the first pictures of him were immediately after velvet. He never hung out with any other dear, just minded his own business.

Morning of Nov 8. I was in a no service area so snapchat was out of the question. Candy bars were in the passenger seat of the truck, I was already a little bummed out. So the hunt- I've seen him from the stand 3 times since 2015 before yesterday. On cam maybe once a week. Bucks were all over all morning. I was watching a buck (called the Mean 8 because I'm so creative) with a doe only 100 yrds away and it was just a matter of time before she brought him by me. But the Old 8 came by first from the other direction. 13 yrd shot, he went maybe 10 yrds and fell over. I'll be back out in a few days after the Mean 8 or hope to find another buck that hasn't been around in a couple weeks.

Pics throughout the years here...fresh out the womb thru yesterday...kinda heavy...but my favorite books are picture books anyways

Love the history and pictures that go along with the story, makes it that much cooler. You weren't joking when you said he really didn't change much at all. Congrats on a stud 8!!
