While out trying to get a rogue cow off my property, I came across an area of concern. About a 1/4 acre of 12 year old oak trees are infested with a red thorny stalk type plant.3-5 feet tall, about a 1/2" in diameter on average. They lean over about the top third. I did not have my phone to take a picture. Google has not turned up an exact match. Wild briar ? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Side note, I hate cows!

Multiflora rose sounds like a good bet. I hadn't thought of that because EarSleepHunt didn't say REALLY FREEKING THORNY!!!

Thorns curved or straight? Stalks round or segmented? Curved thorns round stalk is MFR, straight thorns segmented stalks is blackberry. The blackberry is more maroon/brown this time of year but I can see how it could be called red. This time of year I think MFR is more flexible than a blackberry stalk.
