Practice makes perfect

Told the kids about a kid I knew that didn't practice and missed. They've put a lot of rounds down range... poor tree's gonna get cut in half. I give it 50/50 one gets murdered if we get one within 20 yards.

Alex's eye patch kills me

Practice with light loads. That way they won’t flinch when shooting heavy loads at turkeys! They won’t feel a thing when actually hunting and much more likely to hit the turkey! Good luck!

They have each shot 2 boxes of low brass 8 shot. To finish each session they get 2-5 high brass 5 shot. So far so good with the high brass, Saturday they get the 3" when a bird comes in.

I remember when my youngest boy was 10 years old and he practiced with a 1 1/8 oz 7 1/2 shot (trap round)... I kept the same shell in for hunting. Called in a tom to 10 yds and he smoked it with a trap load. Don't think you need to get the biggest baddest shell out there. The next year I had him shoot a pheasant load of #5 shot and worked just as well. Good Luck.

That is all I use for my boys now. 2 3/4 pheasant load. 5 shot. They have killed 8 birds with that setup.

Be careful with those 3in. They kick like a mule though those little guns!

They've been practicing with high brass #4s, no complaints cept they're mad we have to leave the range! I do have a pretty "custom" pad on there that really seems to help with recoil
