Red Medium Clover

I was able to disk up little field that I want to plant rye/rape/turnips in this fall. Thinking of broadcasting some red clover tomorrow and packing it. Would medium red fight off weeds well, help feed the wildlife and get nitogen into the soil for my fall planting?
