Traveling Through Iowa

On my way back from a short business trip, I will be traveling through and staying in Iowa next Tuesday. Just curious if there are any recommendations on places to stay from Des Moines east based off food, or sights to see on my way back to southern Missouri. Thanks for the input!

They put a "new" hotel in not long ago. Its a Fairfield INN and Suites in Altoona (Suburb on the east side of Des Moines). There is a Johnny's Steak House that is close by and also Bass Pro Shops. Casino is right down the road also. Its pretty easy getting in and out of also.

Thanks for the info! I'm pretty flexible on my route...basically as long as i'm in between Des Moines and Burlington :)

If you like craft beer, lots of GREAT places in Des Moines. El bait shop has over 220 on tap. I take visitors there now and then.

X2 on el bait shop. Unique place to visit and a ton of great beers. They even have PBR and Grain belt on tap

Well, got into Des Moines late on Tuesday night. But, I took the scenic way home...65 south the whole way to nearly Springfield, Mo. Yesterday morning, the deer sure were moving in Southern Iowa! Good lands I hope I can draw next year :)

Hmmm strange. I though southern iowa was the worse spot in iowa. I wouldnt waist your time if I were you. :)
