Took the 13 year old out this morning. About six different birds were sounding off after we watched the blood moon eclipse. They all responded to my yelps on the Woodhaven call. A couple old hens and I bantered back and fourth till about 7:15. About that time, a bird flew down and proceeded to gobble about fifty yards to our left. I hit the switch on the tom decoy that makes him rotate. Much to my chagrin, the bird hung up fit a few minutes until I mouth yelped. He came right along the tree line, giving my son a shot at six yards. Game over. Turns out it was a Jake, which is why he hung up when he saw the decoy. I was happy with it, Ethan was happy with it, and we both get to sleep in for a few more weeks.
