    Land prices / insane!!!

They were from the area but don't own any adjoining ground. Across the road to the west is public hunting and we're surrounded by ag.

    Land prices / insane!!!

Had a land auction today in north central Iowa with 3 tillable tracts and a 15 acre timber (more like scrub brush) tract that butted against my farm. The first 2 tillable tracts were not great and went for 7,100 and 6,750 and I thought maybe I'll get the timber for a decent price... NOPE, I let...

    POLL: MOST BENEFICIAL REGULATION CHANGE?

The one perk of being in north central Iowa is I don't have to deal with antlerless quotas or the shed buck season. I would say the top 3 for my area would be: 1) Re-evaluate number of depredation tags given out. In my opinion, farmers get WAY too many dep tags when coons do more crop damage...

CRP VIDEO- Reasons to plant & enroll….

Perfect timing on this video! I just purchased an 80 acre farm that has 7 acres of pasture with no crop history. I am trying to work with the FSA/NRCS to get this eligible for CRP in the future. FSA wants me to fill out a Form 1026 and then wait for NRCS to say if it's highly erodible or a...

    Genesis 3 Drill for sale

Looking to sell my Genesis 3 drill. Bought in 2021, low acres, always stored inside. Works great, I'd just like to upgrade to the 5' model. Asking $6,000. For pickup in Iowa Falls.

    Fawn pics…

Pretty cool video from my kitchen window two weeks ago. https://www.reddit.com/user/BuckHunter30/comments/14g3reg/spring_mornings_in_iowa/ Found one on a walk!

    First Timber Fire!

I took advantage of gorgeous weather and decided to give a prescribed timber fire a try today. Worked on a south facing slope with a ton of white, burr, and red oaks that I did TSI on 4 years ago. Totally wore out but looking very excited to see how this area responds!

    ISO Roller Crimper

I just bought one last fall from https://rollercrimpers.com/. Haven't got the chance to use it yet but it is very well made. The company was great to work with, straight forward with the pricing, and shipped it right to my farm.

EXAMPLE LETTERS YOU WRITE IN & LEGISLATURE CONTACTS!!!

Letter sent to Natural resources committee, tried to keep it short and concise! Hello - This email is pertaining to several proposed hunting bills that, I believe, would be detrimental to both the hunting quality and opportunities in the state of Iowa. SF 42 – Would increases nonresident tag...

$48k per acre - iowa farm sold to football players!

Somebody found the farm they bought, Bremer Co, $10k/acre

Couple of GOOD bills- not necessarily hunting related.

CPA here - Some good stuff, some not good stuff in here. I am totally in favor of making the Iowa tax return simpler. There are way too many add backs, deductions, and other adjustments I have to make after I get the federal return put together. It was a mess for a couple of years and they have...

    Land prices / insane!!!

I would say there are a lot of factors pushing/propping up the land market (and stock market) now, but biggest factor is inflation in my opinion. The US dollar is becoming useless. Close to 40% of every US dollar ever put into circulation was produced in the last 18 months. Think how crazy that...

    2021 Bow Buck

East wind pays off once again! I've had some history with this guy this year. I saw him a handful of times over the summer in my buddy's bean field about 3/4 of a mile away. Most of my area was in corn this year so deer spotting was greatly limited. I didn't get any trail camera pictures of him...

    Planting Green

I couldn't have asked for a better August and September for brassicas. In the areas where the deer had mowed down the beans, the brassicas and rye came in great! Next year, I will definitely go to 15" rows and lower the population of beans planted to get more area and sunlight for the fall mix...
