    Cash rent farmer

Out FSA office told us alfalfa would count. I also put a hay field in crp no issues. Strangely my farm had two nearly identical size and quality of hay fields. One the previous owner had been reporting each year and one had not been reported. Of course i could not get crp on the non reported...

Prescribed Burn - Backpack Blower Recommendations

I’m have an echo that i have been really happy with. Not sure of the model but it is one of their big ones. My experience…i went from a handheld to backpack. In every way (almost) the backpack is much better. HOWEVER, i have been thinking of adding back a handheld. I always have my leaf...

    LS XU5065 Tractor & Loader

Likely will buy the new model that replaced it which is an MT468. Basically the same physical size, similar weight, and similar HP. Someone asked me why I am selling it, the answer is that I like to trade this type of stuff every 5 or so years. Probably can't justify it with only 350 hours....

    Transplanted a chestnut out yesterday

I potted acorns in mineral tubs this winter and left them sitting outside exposed to weather. You guys have me worried now that they won’t make it…

    LS XU5065 Tractor & Loader

Thanks Daver and Bassattackr! I am surprised there hasn’t been more interest from members here because I know several on here have LS tractors and love them. Quality, features, and weight standout against competition at the price. In my opinion this is the perfect size tractor. Large enough...

    LS XU5065 Tractor & Loader

Likely going to buy a new tractor or trade my tractor off on a brand new one and thought I would offer it up to you all before trading to a dealer. I bought this tractor brand new in July 2017. It is a 2016 LS XU5065 with power shuttle transmission (you can shift from forward to reverse...

    ATL

You all seeing that most bucks have shed already? I keep reading that guys are finding a lot of antlers. My cams on two different farms are showing bucks still holding their antlers. I have found several in or around fields but been staying out of timbers until cams tell me it is time.

    Pulling Autumn Olive & Honeysuckle?

Tree puller pulls them very easily but mounted on a tractor will be extremely slow. Slow to maneuver, hydraulics are slower, etc. I have used puller on a skidsteer and much better/quicker. You can shake almost all of the soil off the roots to avoid large craters, but again this would be...

Starting a 75 acre tree planting looking for Ideas 2024

That is quite a project! My project is 52 acres and that is a lot for me! I was fortunate to have favorable soils that is compatible with just about every tree and shrub imaginable. Will be lots of mowing and spraying!

    Nursery

Thought i would respond to several messages above at once. Cannot recall the CRP program offhand and i don’t have the paperwork but it allows for 180’ on each side of a stream bank as well as around ponds. This is my first time ordering from Yellow River. Read good things about them...

    Nursery

20,000 on one farm and 1,000 on another. Will do another 10,000 on the project next spring. This is part of a 52ac tree crp project.

    Nursery

I ordered about 21,000 bare root seedlings for spring pick up. Part of them from MO and part from IA state nurseries. I also have an order into Yellow River and yes they will ship.
