    Time change

I'll chime in from the other side and say I personally like the time change. As far as hunting goes I like getting things going earlier and I like being home in time for dinner and time with Family or friends. I also like that if I'm trying to get out for a hunt after work it means I need to...

WOW! That's AWESOME! I think you're the one that needs to do a post.

    Flying with a firearm

It was a great first trip to AK. Only thing missing was a dead moose. Saw moose everyday but one but only one bull was legal and we never could get close. I'll do a post about it at some point.

    Flying with a firearm

I went to AK this past September as well. On the way up we flew Delta out of Moline. I have a Pelican Vault double gun case. It's big. I removed some of the foam layers and had that thing stuffed to the 50 pound limit. Besides rifle and ammo I had all my blades, trexxing pulls, small saw and...

Now that necked cartridges are lawful (min .35 - max .5) what will everyone be hunting with this year?

Another 100K hunters in Iowa? Not going to happen. IF it did it would be a big problem and opportunity would have to be restricted rifles or no. I surely wouldn't want that many hunters running around with center fires. It negates nothing. Dead deer are dead deer no matter what season they...

Now that necked cartridges are lawful (min .35 - max .5) what will everyone be hunting with this year?

The fact is when you increase hunter effectiveness you will have to reduce hunter opportunity if you want to maintain the herd quantity/quality status quo. You have said as much yourself. You may be alright with that. I'm not. Plus it is most likely that the legislature will do nothing to...

    Lightfield 20ga sabots

Think I do. My kids gun doesn't like them. Let me check tonight and I'll get back to you. Would only be a couple boxes.

    Anyone seeing fewer turkeys?

About 12 years ago I got permission on a farm that was always full of Turkeys, east Central Iowa. It is the best wintering habitat in the area. During muzzy season the usual was to see more Turkeys from the stand then you could count. In the last 4 to 5 years we have seen a steady decline in...

HF 60 NR tag allocation for outfitters

First, a Guided Canadian Black Bear hunt is not an apples to apples comparison to an Iowa whitetail hunt. Second, This "outfitter" must not be much of a businessman if he doesn't have a pool of clients cycling through the draw process to get their tag. Outfitters deal with this all the time in...

    HF 665 Tracking wounded deer

I have not read the law myself so I can't speak directly to your claim. I can tell you a shot gun group used the same ploy on a farm I hunt a couple times before the landowner got wise, He called the CO. The CO told them the next time they better be able to show blood. No more problems.

    HF 665 Tracking wounded deer

Someone represented by Sorenson should contact him and ask WTF? If memory serves he has been the source of many of these crap bills.

HF 60 NR tag allocation for outfitters

I don't know and I pointed that out specifically to everyone on the subcommittee. Specifically that a NRLO would probably be able to "outfit" themselves.

HF 60 NR tag allocation for outfitters

I don't disagree. I'll go further and say they, for the most part, don't give a chit about hearing from anyone but their own constituents anymore. I'm watching hunter related issues in other states as well, mostly Montana this year, Legislators there have labeled the considerable attention...

HF 60 NR tag allocation for outfitters

That sucks too. I'm not seeing a lot of push back or talk about these issues this time around. I'm guessing people are worn out from the past few months. That's understandable but this stuff is sliding through because of it.

HSB 158 Crossbows in late archery season

Crossbow in Archery season will absolutely result in more tags sold. Just take a look at the numbers from Wisconsin. I really don't care if someone hunts with a crossbow. Though you are making the point of a lot of guys agruements against them. I've seen fully able bodied men not able to...

HSB 158 Crossbows in late archery season

Yes, but if you traditionally hunt Shotgun you're out of Muzzy. Now that hunter may decide to pick up a bow tag just to hunt late split with a CB. Once that hunter has a CB and an archery tag they'll soon be wanting in on the first split.
