HF 665 Tracking wounded deer

Link to bill: HF 665

This bill makes it a misdemeanor to track deer at night without the property owners consent. The bill seems to distinguish between tracking deer just for the sake of tracking deer and tracking wounded or retrieving dead animals.

Someone represented by Sorenson should contact him and ask WTF? If memory serves he has been the source of many of these crap bills.

I dont understand this bill at all. The last sentence says it doesn't prohibit unarmed tracking of wounded or fatally hit deer so not sure what it does address.

This is a ridiculous law. It gives anyone a way into private land. The tracking law allows anyone tracking a deer permission to enter private land. What makes this a terrible law is because there does not have to be an active blood trail. This is 100% true. If the deer are on your land during gun season and "Tracker" can walk right through your Santuary and drive the deer out because he is "Tracking a deer" The law is clear and it does not have to be a blood trail. This is a terrible law

Are you sure? I think it does the opposite. But I also have not read it with a fine tooth comb, so maybe I am missing something.

I have not read the law myself so I can't speak directly to your claim. I can tell you a shot gun group used the same ploy on a farm I hunt a couple times before the landowner got wise, He called the CO. The CO told them the next time they better be able to show blood. No more problems.
