Biggest BS story you've heard

I saw this on another site and thought it would be fun to start here. What's the biggest BS hunting story you've heard (or told;) )?

Mine would have to come from a old guy that likes to tell stories about big deer. He said one day he was driving down the road and the biggest buck he's ever seen in his life was running in a field next to him. The buck was a little ways in front of him and turned to cross the road. There were power lines it had to go under and when it got to them it had to tilt its head sideways just to get under them. HUGE DEER! :way:

Not much of a story but every buck I miss seems to grow 20 or 30 more inches when I never find or get a shot off...that's just me though! :)

One of my favorites was from a pathalogical "story teller" I used to work for. He swore he had a pointer that knew the difference between hens and roosters and would only point the roosters. I think he told his stories enough that he would start to believe them.

You can't avoid ridiculous stories by ANY average group of people. Everyone is a deer expert too! Every block has a 26 point "Old Mossy Horns" that's been running round there for 19 years! Every block is infested with COUGARS too! Every guy that sees a nice buck seems to be able to count in a hurry to get to "17 pointer" or shoots a 1.5 year old deer that was "going downhill".

My Great Aunt owns a 700 acre place and 6 years ago my Great Uncle passed away. I've personally chased over 40 guys off the place this year, my Dad has told over 30 guys to get off this year. I recently kicked a pair of guys off and they said that my Great Uncle gave them permission last week. I said "My Great Uncle has been dead for 6 years" the look on their face was priceless. This isn't the first time guys have said this.

My Dad cash rents this place and my 2nd Cousin manages the farm for my Aunt. So, that's how I can kick people off.

About twice a year I hear the "cousins best friend" saw the DNR show up to a cougar kill (sometimes a road kill, other times a farmer or hunter killed it) then they watched the DNR remove a collar from it. Or it had a collar and the DNR hauled the animal away.
I had a guy tell me one time he was walking to his deer stand and came eye to eye with a giant buck so he froze. The buck proceeded to rub his antlers on his leg then walk away. Apparently he was too stunned to shoot him...
Another guy told me about a six day elk hunt he went on. The last day a big bull walked by him close enough that the bull stepped on his boot. He said he was so beautiful he couldn't pull the trigger.
Man, I have heard allll kinds of stories... Good thread.

Had a guy tell me a couple times last year that he had been seeing a buck with double 16" drop tines. The guy knows what big deer are, I think he has killed his share of big bucks but he is known to tell some stories I think. Too my knowledge he is the only one to see this mysterious buck with two 16" drop tines. Maybe he was telling the truth, I don't know, I shouldn't jump to conclusions so fast, but c'mon... I have never seen one drop tine that long, let alone two.

Kid in my high school said he saw a buck behind some brush, he shot, buck popped up again he shot again, then dang buck lifted his head up again, he shot the third time.

Went over to brushy area and there were 3 dead bucks laying there!

Couple weeks ago I was admiring a nice poached buck they had on display at my sons hunter safety class when a fellow came up beside me and said. "That's the problem with most you deer hunters. Always after the big buck. You guys need to shoot more does." I could not help myself and blurted out for the whole room to hear. "What planet are you from?" This guy also told the CO there that over near Mt. Carrol IL they (DNR) released a bunch of black wolves to bring down the deer numbers.

Best one I ever heard was when my dad was back working at John Deere. A guy he worked with went out west and while at a bar one afternoon the locals sold him a jackalope hunting license and told him to head out into the mountains to track one down. It gets better as he told my dad and the rest of the guys at the plant that he actually went hunting and saw a Jackalope. :)

As a walleye fisherman, I frequently get the "you should have been here yesterday, I C&R 4 10lbers." or something along those lines. Ironically they have no pics, witnesses or proof of their epic day of fishing and couldn't catch a fish if their life depended on it while I am there. Now I know there are those "you should have been here yesterday" times. I have had them myself. But you can always tell when someone is full of BS.

There is a saying that goes something like "the biggest fish are the ones that got away". Well I get that a lot too. There is always someone who has the story of the state record that broke their line right at the bank.:)

Sounds like it is time to get the Law involved on that one. That is a lot of trespassers.

My dad worked for the fisheries division of the Oklahoma Wildlife Department for nearly forty years, and he fielded near weekly phone calls every summer from water skiers saying they'd been attacked by Volkswagon Bug-sized catfish.

I saw a buck so big, that it had to walk backwards and drag it's chin on the ground because it's rack was so heavy it couldn't lift its head up. :D

The number of points on a deer's rack reflects how many years old he is. Ya know...some of those gnarly ones are older that me!!

Repeat offenders will get 'em, luckily we haven't had any. This isn't a BS story :)
