Switch grass problem?

I have several large areas of mature Cave-N-Rock switch in Washington County that is basically laying over, and has been for several weeks. I'm 5'7" and can see across it easily.The blades also have a fair amount of brown dead areas on them. Wondering what could be the cause.

I've had CIR switch do similar things and then when it dries up in late Sept/early Oct it will stiffen up a little and stand a bit taller.
