Selling antlers

Does anyone have a good, trustworthy antler buyer in and around South central Iowa.

All shapes and sizes, most of them are in good shape / fresh when picked up. I’ve got 100s of them in 50 gallon barrels in the garage and the wife says they’ve gotta go………..

I opened up my mouth about how much they are worth and she called the bluff, so they’ve gotta go.

Anything trophy size (70”+ I’m keeping) so I’m assuming buyers are looking at them from poundage stand point.

Thanks for the hep!

I second circle m auctions. I sold a hundred pounds there last spring and averaged $8 a pound after commission. Bigger antlers 60” and up bring more sold in small lots or singles.

Have you tried selling on Ebay yet? I bought a bunch on there. Told my wife we were going to have a giant antler arch for our wedding.. then my daughter showed up a tad earlier than expected and screwed up the wedding plans just a bit and I didn’t have enough antlers to complete the arch.. ordered them off ebay to complete it. Still never ended up making one... Still got the antlers sitting in barrel too!

IBH I posted earlier on Circle M auctions from last spring I averaged $8 a lb after commission. It didn’t seem to matter if they were dink spikes, slightly chewed, had broken tines or were clean 40-60 inch sheds. I let the auctioneer split them up in lots.

You can look at results from past auctions on their website, that price is pretty consistent. Bigger antlers, 60 inches and up bring better money sold in small lots of 2-3.

To circle back. I was able to get a deal done relatively easy. Made a post on Facebook on an antler page and within 1 hour I had over 10
People commenting on interest. Lots of tire kickers and tweakers lookin to scam a guy also. However, found a few guys that appeared legit and was able to get a feel for things. Ended up selling over 200# @ 10$/lb. That included 175 lbs of brown antlers (some chewed) and 40 ish lbs of whites and chalkers. I didn’t sell anything over 65” either. But Sounded like overall the lb antler market is pretty flat to down from couple years prior. Covid timeframe apparently antlers went crazy but have since leveled out. Whitetail specifically; if guys have elk/moose to sell that price seems to be significantly better per lb than whitetail.

$10 LB has been the going rate for some time. If i had a dollar for every guy that showed up and said the antler market was down and offered 5 or 6 id own a 1000 acres. LOL

Yeah I had a guy from Osceola tell me he’d give me 12$/lb then next morning when I went to meet him; he said the market was down and he only offered me 8$. I think there’s some shady people buying selling antlers. Obviously not everyone is bad, but definitely lots of turds trying to flip a quick buck.
