2026 Fishing Adventures (Ishi)

First I need to finish the 25 thread! After the Canada trip I went back to try and catch the third species of trout the native Brook trout. There’s a Brooks special regs stream that I went to and see if I could get the trifecta. It was close to 1 1/2 miles hike to reach the stream and I caught four of them and missed a couple more.

The pics don’t do justice to the colors of this species and the colors of the spots glow with brilliance. That week I stayed four days and fished five new streams.
The end of September I went back and had great success catching Browns after fishing three new streams

Now it 2026 and the middle of January it warmed up two days so I got a motel and fished 5 new streams and going up there I knew the stocker trout would be mostly gone but I enjoy hunting the Browns. Both days I land 6 Browns and miss several more.

Last week my buddy took me ice fishing for the first time in 35 years and the action was constant ( no pics) with a 1/2 five gallon bucket full and today we did it again on a different pond with the same results.

Now that I’ve retired from work I needed a winter hobby and it’s a rabbit hole but I’m really enjoying it and I’ll get into that possibly in the next post. Once the weather breaks I have many outings planned up north and want to try to get to Minnesota or Wisconsin drift less region plus a trip or two out west but time will tell if I can fit everything in.
