    Clover

We use the following mix in late May to early June here in SE Iowa Quote: 12-16 ounces clethodim 6-8 ounces glyphosate 1 qt crop oil per acre Is late April too early to use this spray mixture?

    Mrs doe pee

I've used doe in estrus in the past. Have had bucks hit the scent and come in on a rope, but then other times no luck. Guess it really depends on the deer and time of year. For $10 the 1oz bottle is worth it in my opinion.

    Cereal Grains and cover crops

Too early to plant rye? I am going to plant rye (just rye) into a couple acres that deer have destroyed soybeans, is it too early to do it this weekend?

    Brassicas

Planted 7 acres of brassica mix on Saturday, then 4 inches of rain on Sunday. Hope it wasn't too much rain, but definitely glad to get rain after getting plots in the ground.

    Clover plot help

I would definitely add oats for a cover crop when starting clover. I personally wouldn't bother with the berseem as its an annual, the ladino and alice will do great by themselves. 6-10#s per acre is what is recommended for white clover. You should probably consider adding white clover inoculate...

    Clover

This is what dbltree recommends: Winter rye 50-80#'s per acre (56#'s = a bushel) Spring oats 80-120#'s per acre (32#'s = a bushel) The deer love the rye, so I just go heavy instead of worrying about 1/2 bags. I could have maybe used one less bushel of oats and 1/2 a bag less of rye, but the ROI...

Eldon, I know you asked dbltree, but here is what the seed cost me this year to plant an acre of the "dbltree" mix <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="433"><colgroup><col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:8813;width:181pt" width="241"> <col style="width:48pt"...

    Brassicas

Last year we planted this mix on one acre ,with heavy N applied, per Dbltree's recommendation. Purple Top Turnips 3# Dwarf Essex Rape 2# GroundHog Forage radish 5# It seems that the brassicas were "too" crowded and didn't have as much bulb/root development as they should have. It seemed that...

    Cereal Grains and cover crops

Really wish I would have taken the time to up an exclusion cage on my winter rye/oats/peas/radish/clover plot so I could tell how well its growing, lesson learned. Due to lack of rain over the last two months and a huge increase in usage of the plot thanks to a combo of brassica, clover, corn...
