    Shed bucks

Are a ton already shedding in Iowa? We've seen a couple in MN, but not many. My son and I are heading down to the Afton area January 2nd for a muzzleloader hunt. Hopefully it won't be a waste of time!?

    Bad Neighbor Tips

Definitely a last resort option! We're already seeing one or two sided fences going up in my area. I fear it's only going to get a lot worse.

    Bad Neighbor Tips

Red line is 1/2 mile. We have a couple stands around 50 yards off the line, but none right on the line.

    Bad Neighbor Tips

Yes, very good chance of buying it down the road. I'm ready if it ever comes for sale. I'm only in my early 40's and he's in his upper 60's. His kids are not interested in the land.

    Bad Neighbor Tips

Sorry, I agree with you there. Not all "Brown is down neighbors" are not bad. I get it, not everyone has endless amounts of time to hunt and be selective or put the habitat work in. What is bad, is the laundry list of other things he's been doing like putting an outhouse on my property...

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

I'm in Minnesota as well. Live in the cities and own land in SE Becker and NE Ottertail. Sarah Strommen is only looking to increase DNR revenue and kill as many deer as possible. The state has lost 22% of deer gun hunters since 1994. We're basically barking up the wrong tree with her. We need to...

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

No doubt record book buck harvest is down since the 1990's. However, I can guarantee you that Iowa has significantly more record book bucks that are not being included in this data sheet. I'm guessing only around 50% of booners are entered in Iowa vs 95% in Wisconsin and surrounding states...

Purdue University Managing your Woods for White-Tailed Deer

Has anyone seen this pdf before? It's excellent information!! Just found it today. Sorry if it's old news. https://www.extension.purdue.edu/extmedia/FNR/FNR-596-W.pdf Talks about the pounds per acre of browse based on the type of cutting(clear cut, shelter wood, single tree selection, crop...

    TSI

Just recently bought a property and was considering getting some TSI/Bedding pockets cut now. This is what the timber looked like this spring. If you look close, I started edge feathering some of the field edges this spring. Would you guys cut this time of year? If so, how big of areas and how...
