Ooof...not a review I wanted to see. $2400 but splitting hairs I guess.

Current State of the Land Market

I saw in a comment section (Thunder Ridge Outfitters) that they had some clients with 6 points and an application not draw...woof

Current State of the Land Market

West/southwest here, very similar from what I've seen but higher prices on rec. $6500+ on mostly rec, sometimes pushing $8k on combo w good income. Closer to NR metros (Omaha, Sioux City/South Sioux, even KC) and easier to draw zone 3? Some farms have sat, some have moved really quick.

Newbie - Please Recommend a Planter

For those of you who use the G5, how big of a tractor do you use to pull it? What would you consider minimum HP, and what would you consider the "sweet spot"?

Another vote for Banks. We have two that have held up really well even after one blew over in a windstorm. Also glad to see the vote for 360s from Daver, just placed an order for two after seeing them at a local taxidermists shop. Really like the windows so you don't feel like you're hunting in...

    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

Not to sidetrack from the MO discussion, but I just heard the NE game commission is voting on going to 1 buck in the upcoming June meeting. A lot of states making some "big" changes recently... Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, etc...

    Farm Bill

Agreed. It's a screwy system...the bright side to conservation right now is the big funding added to EQIP CSP etc. There's a lot of money out there right now for doing habitat work. Has anyone heard anything about the forestry additions? I heard Jake Hoefer talk about it with his most recent...

    Farm Bill

I haven't heard anything about crop history not being updated. The House passed their version back in April. Really little to no improvements to CRP other than just reauthorizing through 2031. There's a push in the Senate to bring their bill up for a markup before the summer recess but I...

Fair. Sometimes I forget you're in MN. I do not envy you there. You've lost to the extreme left.

Corporate profits do not correlate to individual paychecks of employees. This is where trickle-down economics breaks down. Anyone can tell you those profits aren't getting back to regular employees. Some stats to ponder- record high car repossessions and record high consumer credit card debt...

Respectfully, you're still missing my point. Average people don't care about those numbers, they care about THEIR numbers. Utilities, insurance, groceries, rent/mortgage, gas, and enough to take the kids on an average summer vacation. That's where people are actually feeling it and not just...

And gas went up .30 in 2 days and broke $4.30 here...but yeah my retirement accounts are doing decent. And nobody but the top 1% care about corporate profits being an all time high. Ask the average voter how they are feeling lately. Anyone middle class. Someone who isn't propagandized by MSNBC...

    Tree Planting

"Folk Rock Farm" out of Rhode Island. I'd never heard of them but the owner posted in a Facebook group about them and I decided to give them a try. Customer service was great about communicating shipping times, planting tips, etc. So far I'm really pleased. Here's their website...

Anyone have experience with Chinese chestnuts? I got a dozen to try. Bareroot seedlings. They're already throwing great leaves in the tubes.

    Honey Locust Trees & Tires

My situation doesn't sound as bad as yours but you'll be battling them for awhile unless you can get in and pull most of the root out completely, stack and burn. Even with stump treatment, the roots will attempt to sprout eventually. If they are small enough, you could get a skid steer with the...

    Boots recommendations for western hunt

Crispi Idaho II is what I bought maybe 5-6 years ago. Highly recommend although I wish I'd have gone 1/2 size up, I don't have much room for thick socks. Pay attention to the toe box, some high end boots are tighter than others and if you need a wide toe box I wouldn't overlook that.

Anyone paid attention to this in farm bill

Lol @ Anderson Cooper. Okay. Having conservation minded people at the table during Farm Bill conversations, VPA-HIP, etc. is not "climate change mode". Some of you are so extreme about any criticism of Trump that it's pushing the very swing voters that won him 2024 back towards the left...
