Your Best Sucsess with Man Made Scrapes in Plots

My best set up is with an oak branch cut while the leaves are still green. When they dry out, they stay attached for a long time. Once bucks start ramping up, they seem to enjoy the noise those dried up leaves produce . Seems to get them " fevered up". Also, slightly damp soil Trump's dry soil...

    Pumpkins are struggling

As usual, even pumpkins that seem to struggle early on can grow incredibly fast give good moisture. I've got 3 plots planted and they have Exploded! Got some pumpkins size of volleyballs. Here is one plant right in my back yard. From root base to end of main vine, I'm guessing it's about 19/20 '.

Aerial drone survey- Deer not bedding in Switchgrass Late season

When young and ambitious, I'd collect Xmas trees and drag them out into crp/ cattail marshes. Deer/ fox/ coyotes lov3d bedding next to them. One small 5' tree in a monoculture of crp was a magnet. Looking back 30+ years, I can't believe I did that. I'd have a heart attack nowdays.

Annually, my planting dates are July 25. We got a 3" rain on the 21st. All spots were sprayed/ fertilized before hand. Black soil and weed free. I got them all seeded (broadcasted) on the 23rd as I wanted to take advantage of the wet soil. Got a 1/10" that evening and another 1/4" an hour ago...

    Buck rub contest.

Ib83, thanks, I stumbled onto doing this about 15 years ago. Did it just for ornamental reasons but the first year, ( after velvet shed), the bucks DESTROYED them. Now it's an annual fun project. It's not normal to have mature bucks come through my front yard but when they do, they beeline to...
