Here are some pics of the birds that I shot this year. To say it has been a good year is an understatement. The first pic is of the the two birds my brother and I doubled up on while he was back for second season. I shot my bird at 5 yards with my bow and he then slipped the boom stick out the blind window and shot his at about 20 yards. Both birds were spittin images of one another. Both weighed around 21lbs, had 1 inch spurs and 10.5 inch beards. It was an awesome morning and to double up was a bonus.
The second and third pics are of the gobbler that I shot Tuesday morning. We had birds around us all morning, this bird was within 150 yards gobbling for nearly 3 hours. He had a hen with him as she answered nearly every call first followed by him gobbling. Long story short around 8:55 am he finally made an apperance with his lady in tow. He locked on to the decoys and strutted his was in. I was going to let him come all the way to the blind before shooting but as he got to about 20 yards he saw something he didn't like. I dont know if it was the camera lens or what but he folded out of strut and turn around to leave. It was now or never so I let the Gold tip fly and it went right up his tail pipe. He hobbled over to the fence row where he piled up for good. For the next 2 1/2 hrs we had birds surrounding us and had 4 gobblers out in front of us but none would commit. So we packed up at 11:30 and recovered my bird and hiked back to the truck. We captured the whole hunt on video so that was sweet as well.
2nd bird weighed 25.5
