Not the brute I was after, but I only was able to have a 3 day hunting season this year so I am happy with this 7 pointer on day 3. Rattled him in to about 35 yards as the sun was setting. Put what looked like a descent shot on him but found him about 300 yards away via a sparse blood trail. The shot went through his 3rd to last rib and came out his hind quarter. Not quite sure how that happened but definitely tested my tracking skills. Probably should have let him grow, but wanted to put some meat in the freezer. As usual my all-time hunting partner, my dad, was there to help me track him down. In fact he is the one who finally spotted him.
