The Insurance company's lobbing got what they wanted. Just another whitetail state now. Between all the xta seasons and extended seasons along with ehd our herds are in DEEP trouble.
 
Bill Winke wrote a great article about the decline in the state of Iowa and predicted it would take 4 years to rebound with hunters doing their part. We will be back someday until a new batch of politicians come in and ruin it once again. Pretty sad to see this low of scores, but at the same time hats off to the individuals on harvesting nice deer during a tough season.
 
While I am In agreement with the lower numbers I also think the snowstorm prevented some deer from showing up and I also think people are over the thrill of having their deer hung up on a wall with their name and county taken. Would make it pretty simple for people to key in on areas to hunt and lease.

Yesser. agreed.
 
I would disagree about the storm. It wouldn't have made that much difference about the deer brought the mature herd is mostly dead from EHD and over kill 4 to5 years recovery at least if not longer. Yes dark days ahead for Iowa the GLORY days are over for now hope it comes back! We as hunters prolly are the only ones that are going to fix this problem and that is quite killing so many deer lets do our part
 
There are too alot of people who did not make it up to the show. I have a friend that took a 200"+ with his muzzleloader and did not make it up, I dont think he cared if the whole world saw it or not.

I fully believe that most of the bigger deer harvested never make it to the show and never get "officially" measured. With all the thefts of trophy mounts and such why advertise it. I have told the officials at the classic that they need people to show there deer without a name attached to it, i believe that may help get more deer to the classic.
 
You know you can ask them not to put your name on it...
I've seen a few tags with out names or counties listed.
