7000 acres in Ringold and Decatur county are going to be auctioned off at Lakeside Casino in Osceola on Monday. Im assuming most of this land has been used for pasture and hay, what are the chances that there aren't some prime time acreages up for grabs. Just wondering if any hunters are looking into this auction or if any one has more information about the land.

this land is great turkey and deer habitat It is on the back side of my grandparents farm, some is timber, it was all owned by the Reabaca Ranch that went bankrupt after some cattle selling fraud.

This is a great chance for a NR to buy a little hunting spread here in Iowa. Move here, build a nice little home, go get one of our $7.00/hour jobs, and hunt deer here every year for next to nothing.

THERE IS IS A GOOD ARTICLE ON THIS SALE IN TODAYS OMAHA PAPER. IF I KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT COMPUTERS BUT "POINT AND CLICK" I WOULD PUT UP A LINK.

For those of you who want a little better feel of the magnitude of this sale.

7,000 acres roughly 11 square miles!

I did some figuring, 7000 acres at roughly $800.00/acre,( i assume its not your quality Iowa crop ground) thats 5.6 million dollars of ground. plus he's selling about 1800 bred cows which might average about $850.00 a head, 1.5 million. ( 7.1 million total) thats a lot of money!

That's a lot of money just to shoot one of our bucks...provided you can draw a tag!

I heard on another web page that a guy from texas has his i on this land both for cattle and his huntin buddies that pay big bucks for bucks

Can somebody that attended auction today or hears about the final bids post the result? I wonder if it will get "high" fenced or not.

FROM TODAYS OMAHA PAPER
23 DIFFERENT BUYERS BOUGHT 31 TRACTS THAT RANGED FROM 60 TO 600 ACRES AT AN AVERAGE PRICE OF $566 PER ACRE OR A TOTAL OF ABOUT $4.3 MILLION. THE SELLER WHO BOUGHT AT THE BANKRUPCY AUCTION MADE 12% TO 15% ON HIS ORIGINAL INVESTMENT. TOO BAD THE PEOPLE WHO LOST MONEY IN THEIR DEALINGS WITH GEORGE YOUNG COULD NOT HAVE MADE THAT!! THERE WAS A FAMILY IN MY HOME COUNTY HERE IN SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA THAT WAS LISTED IN THE PAPER EARLIER THIS YEAR AS HAVING LOST $1 MILLION AND THERE WERE MANY MORE WHO LOST EVEN MORE.

Land period at $566 per acre is a steal. Had I known early enough I would have tried to bid on some myself. (been out of state for the last 5 days).

SORRY ABOUT NOT ADDING THIS EARLIER. THE STORY SAID THAT THE PRIME HUNTING GROUND HAD BEEN BOUGHT EARLIER IN A SEPARATE DEAL. DONT QUOTE ME ON THIS BUT I THINK IT WAS BOUGHT BUY HUNTERS FROM MINNISOTA AND MICHIGAN. I THINK THE PRICE WAS SOMEWHERE AROUND $1100 PER ACRE. THE WAY I READ THE STORY WAS THAT ALL THE GROUND SOLD AT THIS SALE WAS BOUGHT BY AREA FARMERS. THEY SAID THAT THEY WERE HAPPY WITH THE PRICE BECAUSE IT WAS A FAIR PRICE FOR PASTURE GROUND AND NOT INFLATED BY RECREATIONAL VALUE.
