Is there anywhere to buy alfalfa seed by the pound or in smaller bags than buying a 50lb bag? I have just a few spots that didnt come up as well as I would have liked and I dont want to go buy a whole bag again.

If your in NE Iowa I know Hall Roberts son in Postville sells it by the pound.

In West Central Iowa.
If the spots didn't "come up as well as you like" - you probably will need to look at inter-seeding clover or re-doing the plot by killing all. Obviously you can read about alfalfa & auto-toxicity and the problems of trying to seed alfalfa against existing alfalfa. If it were my plot, I'd overseed in clover (probably frost seed) & kill off any grasses in early summer or spring.

Well autotoxicity wont effect the field yet it was just seeded this April, so I can still seed in a few of the less dense spots and be ok with that.
