All that starts well....

This guy started great but didn't finish very well. He won't make the 135 min. I have to adhere to but I'm on the fence on his age - 4.5/5.5. Last January he ducked my arrow and I hit high in the shoulder. He has lost mass and a 6-8in tine this year. What's your opinion on this deer? Is he on old warrior or still recovering?

What's the 135 min? I'd shoot him for sure, get him out of there and get another bigger buck to take his place!

And he's a sweet looking deer!

Sure looks like a very mature buck. It is much better to shoot a buck by his age rather than score. It does no good to pass a mature buck that may never make 140 then shoot a 150-160 inch 3 year old because he is over the minimum score required.

very stubby nose/snout...so IMO, very mature. his rack could be slightly defunked this year from the wound, but who knows.

Too bad on the inch requirement, because he's still a mature trophy in my eyes.:way:
