The frizzen was in need of re-hardening on my .54 flinter and I had heard good things about this product so decided to give it a go.
I had re-hardened this frizzen before, around 1500 shots ago by heating and adding carbon in a long, drawn out process.
This Kasenit stuff is simple.
Heat the item to cherry red, apply a heavy coat of the powder, Bring heat back to cherry red on the back side of item for two minutes allowing the powder to boil and penetrate the metal, and quench. Done.
This can be used for all types of applications where you need a hard surface to reduce wear.
