American Waterfowler Debuts

Brainerd, Minnesota-American Waterfowler magazine's premier issue debuted recently when the first 13,000 copies came off the presses at Schumann printers in Fall River, Wisconsin, mailing to subscribers in the U.S., Canada, Great Britain and as far away as New Zealand.

The March/April 2010 issue's cover depicts snow geese returning to the northern prairies after the long winter, created by noted wildlife artist Terry Redlin. Inside are features covering snow goose hunting during the spring conservation seasons in both Central and Atlantic flyways, as well as articles on sea duck hunting, Oklahoma goose hunting, introducing youngsters to waterfowl hunting, Southeastern duck hunting, an E-Collar roundup and a photo essay documenting a wind-swept Canada goose hunt.

American Waterfowler's regular columns cover Decoying, Duck Dogs, Shotshells and Shotguns, as well as a unique 8-page section called Hunt Book serving as an almanac of all things current in the world of waterfowling, including survey results of the season past, polls covering equipment preferences, Smart Money, conservation news and Lore & Tradition, tracing the history of waterfowl hunting in the U.S.

"We're pleased with the inaugural issue, proud of the partnerships we have formed and looking forward to continuing to bring hard-core waterfowlers the best information and entertainment possible," commented editor/publisher Jay Michael Strangis.

A former editor of Wildfowl magazine, Strangis has served the outdoor industry as a writer and editor for 26-years. American Waterfowler is published six-times each year.
