Going in to the season, I didn't have a stud buck to hunt so I set my sights on an old bully buck I had a lot of history with. The evening on November 9 was one of the crazier hunts I've experienced. I watched this guy run off about 12 other bucks from a hot doe. The final buck to try was nice young 10 pointer that was coming in from behind me, and this buck ran over to try to run him off. I shot him broadside at 20 yards, he took 2 hops and just stood there. After 5 minutes, he finally laid down and I thought that was the end of it. I got down and snuck out to grab the Ranger and give him some time. When we came back, all we found was a bed full of blood with no deer, but couldn't find blood leading away from the bed. We looked for an hour and half with no other blood found. Then I checked my trail cams and saw he walked by one 300 yards away from where I shot him. I went back the next morning, and found him 30 yards from the camera. There was no blood trail anywhere so the only way I found him was the camera. He had broke a G2 and right eye was pretty messed up so he sure never backed down from a fight! He was one tough customer!
