my wife just got offered a job in Ankeny just wondering if anyone can tell me hows the hunting over there????

Never hunted around here, but there is lots of public hunting around the Ankeny area.

There are close to 15,000 acres of public hunting in the Des Moines area.
There is also around 30,000 acreas of public hunting around lake Red Rock.

You have public along the DSM River, Saylorville, and Big Creek and all that being right near DSM it gets pounded pretty good. Besides that there isn't a whole lot near Ankeny.

Good hunting and great place to live! Like anywhere, you're gonna have to work hard on finding a good spot to hunt though

There is no good hunting around Ankeny. You have to drive to the NW corner of Iowa for the good hunting spots.
